Salome (2012)

SALOME | OSCAR WILDE | FEATS 2012
Directed by Steve Challens

The ITG presented its entry for FEATS 2012 in Antwerp – Directed by Stephen Challens.

‘Salome’ by Oscar Wilde is the biblical story of the daughter of Herodias who requests the head of John the Baptist on a silver platter. This version is in a post-futuristic setting and the cast reduced in number to focus attention on the relationships of the characters and how they are woven together. Though a dark & black vision many, if not all of its themes, still relate to a modern audience. The adaptation of the play’s poetic language is condensed to be more direct and forceful and show that, whilst the dysfunctional family is at its heart the play’s power & structure is firmly retained in a world all too similar to ours. Sex. Wealth. Corruption. Decay. Death.
